In April 2023, Ohio became the 38th state in the nation to enact Erin's Law – legislation that requires all schools to provide annual developmentally appropriate instruction in child sexual abuse prevention for students in kindergarten through sixth grades. Students in grades seven through 12 will get sexual violence prevention education.
The CACWC has purchased the MBF Child Safety Matters and MBF Teen Safety Matters curriculum to meet the requirements of Erin's law for our local schools. We are working to partner with schools who would like to utilize this curriculum in their district. The impact of trauma and abuse for a child has such long term impacts, and prevention education can truly help to make a difference and stop abuse from happening. This curriculum not only educates the child, but provides supports and education to the parents and the educators. You can learn more about this prevention education on their website at www.mbfpreventioneducation.org.
